I’m kind of into silk lately, y’all, which is super unfortunate, because my budget is not an all-silk kind of budget. It started a few months ago when I returned home from a long run only to immediately get a raging migraine. I went into damage control mode: closed the blinds, turned off all the lights, pounded water and Excedrin migraine, took a warm bath, and crawled into bed. I fumbled in my bedside drawer for a silk eyemask, and I suddenly realized the only fiber I wanted on my skin was silk– it felt so cool and so soft and so breathable, and when your sensitivity is dialed way up (as mine is when I have a migraine), even normally comfy clothes like t-shirts can suddenly irritate. I wrapped myself up in the only silk nightwear I had– my beloved LaLilouche Livia kimono– and crawled back into bed. When I woke up three hours later, not only was my migraine starting to fade, but I felt– comforted. I felt cool and soft and, well, pampered. I’m not gonna say silk will cure a migraine or anything, but it certainly makes the recovery process more pleasant.
I had been thinking of my Livia kimono as a “special occasion” piece (it’s SILK what if I ruin it I can’t wear it every day, etc. etc.), but I’ve recently found myself reaching for it much more frequently. Admittedly I do household chores in my loungewear, and vast drape-y kimono sleeves aren’t really conducive to, like, dishwashing, but when it’s time to blog, or catch up on Netflix, or even put myself to bed after a long, hard day, I’ve started to turn to my silk kimono more and more as a pick-me-up, an instant mood-booster, a sore-body-comforter. And then because I’m a spoiled monster Fleur of England had to go and give me my very own Hot Chocolate silk robe during Curve in August (THANK YOU FLEUR!!), and now, unfortunately, the floodgates have opened, and silk (or in Fleur’s case, silk with just a little stretch) is all I want to wear.
This recent love affair with silk reminded me that back in May, The Lingerie Addict ran a wonderful blog/video post about her meetings with Christine Morton, designer of Christine Lingerie in Vancouver.
Christine Lingerie specializes in silk nightwear and loungewear, producing gorgeous silk and lace pieces (and some stunning exclusive prints) that make me wish I were Miss Fisher, so that I could swan around my perfectly appointed home draped in silk. While there are many, MANY pieces from Christine’s collections that I love, as soon as I saw the Glamour Gown it soared straight to the top of my wishlist.

After my recent Parfait review I’ve decided that Peacock Blue is My Thing, so yes please I would definitely stroll around my apartment my castle wearing a peacock blue silk gown, feeling it brush softly against my legs as I moved. Or maybe I’d want the Ruby Red version? Y’all know I love red lingerie. Or maybe the Midnight, for when I’m feeling a little more mysterious?

I don’t imagine I’ll be able to buy one for myself any time soon (although at $350, I think they’re incredibly appropriately priced), but these gowns have totally captured my heart.
